After C. A final1. Foundation course
Who can apply ?Those who have passed Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or PCL or equivalent and graduates who have secured less than specified marks can apply for the Foundation Course.
One can register for Foundation Course provisionally at any time after having appeared in the Higher Secondary or PCL or equivalent examination. However, such registration will be confirmed after satisfactory proof of having passed the examination, is furnished within a period of six months from the date of provisional registration. Failure to comply with this condition will result in cancellation of provisional registration, forfeiture of fees paid and denial of credit for theoretical instructions undergone.
Registration to the Foundation CourseRegistration is open through the year. Summer Examination is held in June and winter examination is held in December every year. For appearing summer Examination the registration must be completed on or before 15th Shrawan (end of July) and for winter Examination on or before 15th Magh (end of January) of the preceding year. Application form along with the prospectus is available at the Institute at a cost of Rs. 100.00
The Fee StructureThe fee for the Foundation Course is Rs. 7,500.00 to be paid at the time of registration. It includes cost of study materials, library membership, Pre-exam test paper and subscription of newsletter.
2. Professional Courses
It is divided into two parts:
A. Intermediate
Who can apply?Passed in Foundation Course or Commerce Graduate or Master degree securing 50% in aggregate, or graduate in other subjects with Mathematics securing 60% in aggregate, or without Mathematics securing 55%, For the purpose of above criterion the term ‘graduate’ will not cover a graduate or post graduate in music, photography sculpture, fine-arts and the like.
Registration to the CA Intermediate CourseRegistration for the CA course is open throughout the year. Examination is held in summer and winter every year. For appearing summer examination the registration must be completed on or before 15th Jesth (end of May) and for winter Examination on or before 15th Mangsir (end of November). The application- form along with prospectus is available at the Institute at a cost of Rs. 150.00.
The Fee
The fee for the Intermediate is Rs. 15,000/- payable at the time of registration, which includes the cost of material, library membership, and subscription of newsletters.
B. Final
Following conditions must be fulfilled before appearing the CA Final Examination.1. Must Have passed both groups of Intermediate Examination2. Has completed the prescribed period of practical training (3 years) or has yet to serve not more than 360 days of articleship prior to the first day of the month in which Examination is held.In case of candidates appearing in the Final Examination, after completion of three years practical training, no time interval between the first appearance at the Final Exam is required.
The FeeThe fee for the Final is Rs. 10,000/- payable at the time of registration, which includes the cost of material, library membership, and subscription of newsletters.
Provision of Pre-Exam Test SchemeStudents are required to complete the Pre-exam test schemes before appearing the examination. There will be two pre-exam test. The first test is called Postal Test and the second test is called Hall test. The students are required to pass in atleast two papers (minimum one from Hall test) in each paper in order to be eligible to appear for the Examination. Pre-exam test scheme for final examination is optional.
ArticleshipDuring the period of the study the student must undergo articleship for a period of 3 years as an articled trainee under a practicing Chartered Accountant . The list of chartered Accountants eligible to provide articleship is available at the Institute. RA members are exempt for articleship.
3. After CA Final
After successful completion of CA Intermediate and Final examination, one can be a member of the Institute and use the distinctive letters of FCA or CA. By law, nobody in Nepal is permitted to use the designation of Chartered Accountant without being a member of the Institute.
On becoming a chartered Accountant one may have options for pursuing rewarding career, some of the options are:
Set up independent professional practice
Join a practicing firm of Chartered accountant
Render service in the field of capital market
Engaged in one’s own Industrial or Business undertaking
Take up suitable position in business or Industry.
